AJA launches BRIDGE LIVE IP for ST 2110 and compressed codec conversion

AJA Video Systems has launched BRIDGE LIVE IP, a hardware device designed to move signals in both directions between uncompressed SMPTE ST 2110 broadcast infrastructure and compressed streaming or production IP environments. It handles encoding, decoding, and transcoding within a single unit.

The product addresses a common operational gap in facilities that have adopted ST 2110 for their core routing fabric but still need to ingest or distribute compressed streams — live internet contributions, streaming outputs, or connections to compressed production equipment. Bridging those two domains currently requires either purpose-built hardware from specialized vendors or a software stack that adds latency and failure points.

AJA is targeting broadcast facilities, live event production operations, and streaming origination sites that are building IP-native infrastructure while maintaining compatibility with legacy compressed workflows. The BRIDGE LIVE IP sits in a product category that has grown as ST 2110 adoption accelerates: the uncompressed-to-compressed seam is increasingly where operational complexity concentrates, and a dedicated hardware appliance is a practical alternative to software-only bridging.
