Fox Sports deploys Appear X Platform across REMI, soccer, and Jewel Events
Fox Sports announced at NAB 2026 that it is expanding its deployment of Appear's X Platform across three distinct production infrastructure areas: its HRP (Home Run Productions) REMI infrastructure, a standards-based IP workflow covering 104 live matches across 39 days for a major 2026 soccer event, and its Jewel Events system used for premium broadcasts. The deployment uses Appear X20 platforms for HRP and Jewel environments and Appear X5 systems for commentator workflows.
The X Platform supports both JPEG XS and low-latency HEVC compression alongside SMPTE ST 2110 for IP-native signal contribution. By running a common hardware platform across all three infrastructure layers, Fox can standardize operational training, spare parts, and monitoring tooling across different production contexts rather than managing separate vendor stacks per event type.
"By adopting Appear across our REMI workflows, Jewel Events productions and Summer 2026 soccer coverage, we are creating a flexible production architecture," said Rob Rees, VP of Live Production Engineering at Fox Sports. The deal is a significant single-vendor IP transport commitment from a major U.S. rights holder and signals ongoing consolidation of live production infrastructure around a smaller number of certified platforms.
