Haivision launches Falkon X4 quad-modem 5G transmitter for live sports

Haivision launched the Falkon X4 ahead of NAB 2026, a camera-mountable mobile transmitter built around four MIMO 5G modems and eight cellular antennas. The unit outputs 4K/UHD at 4:2:2 chroma, 10-bit, with HDR support for both PQ and HLG curves, encoding in HEVC or H.264. Connectivity bonds 5G, 4G, WiFi, Ethernet, and LEO satellite simultaneously for multi-path redundancy.

The Falkon X4 consolidates functions that previously required separate devices: local recording, audio intercom, video return feed, data bridge, and remote camera control are all integrated. That consolidation targets live sports and news field teams where kit weight and setup time affect what is deployable in fast-turnaround environments.

"Falkon X4 meets the demands for performance and live workflow versatility required for efficient productions," said Jean-Marc Racine, CPO and EVP Broadcast, Haivision. The LEO satellite bonding is the capability that extends the transmitter beyond urban 5G coverage, making it viable for outdoor events and remote venues where cellular coverage is inconsistent.
