Imagine Communications SNP-XS compact IP processor

Imagine Communications marks ten years of ST 2110 with SNP-XS and XVR engines

Imagine Communications is marking ten years as a SMPTE ST 2110 proponent at NAB 2026 with two new product introductions. The SNP-XS is a compact variant of its Selenio Network Processor, supporting both 12G SDI and ST 2110 and targeting space-constrained deployments such as mobile production trucks and edge sites where a full-size SNP chassis is impractical.

The XVR playout engines are Linux-based servers that support ST 2110, SDI, TS, and SRT, offered under usage-based subscription pricing. Imagine positions them for ingest, playout, and unified origination at any scale. A third introduction, AudioFlex for the Magellan Control System, adds granular mono-channel audio routing compatible with both SDI and IP signals — addressing a routing gap that has persisted through many early IP transitions.

CEO Steve Reynolds tied the launches directly to the standards milestone: "We've been vocal proponents of IP on open standards for more than a decade, and seeing the industry accept ST 2110 as the de facto standard validates the approach we've taken." The subscription pricing model on XVR is notable — it positions the engines as an entry point for broadcasters that need ST 2110 playout capability without the capital commitment of a full server-plus-perpetual-license purchase.
