LiveU launches LU900Q intelligent field unit with native 5G and 4:2:2

LiveU is presenting its broadest IP-video ecosystem to date at NAB 2026 (booth N1740), anchored by the new LU900Q intelligent production unit. The device combines native LiveU IQ connectivity, advanced eSIM technology, optimized 5G modems, a MIMO antenna array, and 4:2:2 encoding with dual-camera support — targeting news and live sports field teams replacing legacy contribution hardware.

Surrounding the LU900Q, LiveU is also showing Nexus, a universal protocol gateway that bridges LRT, SRT, and RTMP in a single software-defined node, eliminating the need for separate converters at contribution and distribution edges. LiveU Studio, a cloud-based browser-native production tool, and LiveU Schedule, a centralized SaaS resource management platform, complete the workflow stack. The monitoring layer is covered by Actus X, which adds ATSC 3.0 support and a sub-second latency multiviewer.

The combined portfolio targets broadcasters moving from hardware-centric contribution infrastructure to fully software-defined, cloud-native workflows. The LU900Q's eSIM and multi-modem MIMO design reflects the reality that reliable 5G field coverage still requires bonding across multiple carriers and spectrum bands — a practical constraint the hardware addresses without requiring external bonding devices.
