OWC ships first certified TB5 four-slot NVMe enclosure

Other World Computing launched the OWC Express 4M2 Ultra at NAB 2026, the first certified Thunderbolt 5 four-slot NVMe M.2 SSD enclosure to reach market. The unit earned a TV Technology Future Best of Show Award at the show and is on display at Booth N2373 in the North Hall.

The Express 4M2 Ultra delivers up to 6,622 MB/s real-world read speeds, accommodates up to 32TB across four M.2 drives, and supports RAID 0, 1, 4, 5, 10, and JBOD configurations. A second TB5 port enables daisy-chaining up to five additional Thunderbolt devices. The enclosure is backward-compatible with Thunderbolt 4, 3, and USB4, covering a wide range of production systems in current use.

TB5's doubled bandwidth ceiling compared to TB4 has been a recurring theme in storage-heavy NAB workflows — high-resolution camera formats and multi-stream edit environments are saturating previous interface limits. OWC's entry as the first certified TB5 four-slot enclosure puts it in front of early adopters upgrading workstations ahead of wider TB5 hardware availability. Pre-orders start at $399.99 (or $549.99 bundled with SoftRAID), with units shipping in Q3 2026.
