Sennheiser opens Spectera to third-party control via new OpenAPI integration

Sennheiser is showing Spectera firmware v1.3.0 at NAB 2026 at Central Hall booth 4931, introducing the Spectera API based on OpenAPI 17.0. The interface allows production control systems and broadcast automation workflows to integrate directly with the Spectera wireless microphone management platform. A Spectera Rental Finder tool also launches, mapping worldwide Spectera system availability for touring and event rental markets.

On the immersive audio side, Sennheiser is demonstrating two AMBEO 2-channel spatial audio renderers: a file-based renderer for VOD post-production workflows and a real-time renderer for live broadcast encoding. Both deliver a spatial audio experience from a standard 2-channel output, targeting broadcasters and streamers who want to deliver spatial content without requiring listeners to have a multichannel speaker setup.

Sennheiser also confirmed it is ending LinkDesk development at v1.6.0 in favour of SoundBase as its multi-system wireless management platform going forward. "API access is not a nice-to-have, rather it's essential for an ecosystem," said Benedikt Euen, Senior Product Manager at Sennheiser — a signal that the company is prioritising integration depth over closed-platform control in the wireless broadcast market.
