AWS Elemental Inference adds automated vertical cropping and clip detection

AWS introduced Elemental Inference at NAB 2026, a new AI service for video workflows that automates three tasks media operations currently handle manually: vertical video cropping for social and mobile platforms, clip event detection for key-moment identification, and personalized video generation. The service is being demonstrated at booth W1701 in the West Hall.

For sports and news broadcasters managing high-volume live output, the practical application is reducing the operator time required to reformat a broadcast-aspect feed for vertical social distribution and to clip out highlight moments from long-form content. Those tasks are currently done by combination of manual editing and existing rules-based automation — Elemental Inference positions AWS cloud compute and AI models as a more accurate alternative.

Fox Sports is presenting at the show on their cloud transformation with AWS. Grabyo, Tagboard, and ScorePlay are each discussing real-world Elemental Inference applications at the AWS Theater on the show floor. The combination of a major broadcast partner presentation alongside multiple ISV case studies indicates the service is past early access — AWS is presenting it as a production-ready offering, not a roadmap item.
