Sports Summit pairs AWS and 49ers on stadium tech as a broadcast topic

The expanded NAB Sports Summit includes paired sessions on fan experience: "The Fan Experience Reimagined" and "Stadiums of the Future: Tech-Driven Venue Experiences." Together they examine how personalization, immersive production, and venue-level connectivity infrastructure converge across physical and digital environments. Confirmed participants include Shelby Williams of AWS and Laura "LJ" Johnson of the San Francisco 49ers, bringing cloud infrastructure and team-side venue technology perspectives to the same stage.

The framing matters to the broadcast production community because next-generation venues generate proprietary camera feeds, real-time data overlays, and connectivity layers that directly affect how games are produced and packaged for distribution. As stadiums invest in their own production and streaming infrastructure, the lines between venue operator and broadcast rights holder are becoming less fixed.

The dual-session format — one on at-home fan personalization, one on the stadium itself — signals that NAB is treating venue technology as part of the broadcast production conversation rather than a separate arena-tech topic. The Sports Summit runs April 19–22 in the Sports Theater, West Hall, and is open to all floor-pass holders at no extra charge for the first time.
